I will mostly be keeping this series going so I have an outlet for posting some of the most absurd comments I have ever read. These posts routinely come from the "academic" and "scientific" (and I use these words lightly) or those prone to arrogant intellectualism. I have found that most times they say illogical or irrational things that they just do not see the humor or lunacy in. At other times they say perfectly logical and rational things and contradict their beliefs and worldview...and that's exactly what makes their statements really funny. Many times they are devoutly and zealously atheistic or agnostic and the brilliant comments they make end up supporting theism and religious belief...not their own view.
I will attempt to post them in sets of two or three and try to keep the duo/trio on the same type of topic or in the same context if possible. As can be expected this may prove difficult. Please realize this is intended to be tongue-in-cheek but I am sure that at some point the embarrassment for atheists will become too great and I will be rabidly attacked. I will state outright that if I am accosted with ad hominem, straw man or red herring arguments I will respond and it will not be with kid gloves. For those that will come after me...please be prepared to defend your view logically and rationally or I will systematically tear your argument down to its constituent pieces to examine and show you your flawed thinking. I will also use your flawed reasoning or logic arguments as fodder for future posts to teach people how to disarm your fallacies of logic.
2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 ~ For though we live in the world, we
do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the
weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish
strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it
obedient to Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 ~ “Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him."
The following statements pretty much stand on their own merit (or lack thereof). Future posts may or may not contain commentary from me. Blessings to one and all.

“The best data we have concerning the Big Bang are exactly what I would have predicted, had I nothing to go on but the five books of Moses, the Psalms and the Bible as a whole.” ~Arno Allan Penzias [Nobel Laureate in Physics-Remarks to the New York Times on March 12th 1978]
"A
common sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super-intellect has
monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology, and that there
are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature. The numbers one calculates
from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost
beyond question." ~ Fred Hoyle in The Universe: Past and Present Reflections, Annual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics (1982) [Astronomer, Science Fiction Author and Pioneer in Nucleosynthesis]
[In regards to the design of the Universe] "Amazing fine tuning occurs in the laws that make this possible.
Realization of the complexity of what is accomplished makes it very difficult
not to use the word 'miraculous' without taking a stand as to the ontological
status of the word." ~ George Ellis in The Anthropic Principle: Laws and
Environments, “The Anthropic Principle”, Cambridge University Press (1993) p.

Hi. You have a good idea for your blog, and I intend to come back to read more. It's quite hard to read, though--gives my eyes a real strain. Perhaps you could make it lighter? The different font colors also give it less distinction. I'm interested in the quotes you've come up with. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHello Shellbiz. Thanks for the visit. Yes, I realize at times the dark background and light text messes with people's eyes. I have tried to alter the template for the blog in the past but always end up messing it up to some extent and have a hard time fixing it so I avoid tinkering too much with it. Based on your advice I have enlarged the text and darkened it a little to make less contrast. I will state this though. Don't try and read the blog in a dimly lighted or dark room it amplifies the effect.
