The Little Things Matter

I admittedly find it remarkable the things God will use to humble mankind. Not the least of which is war, pestilence and famine. Since breaking out of China, COVID-19 has breached the walls of the Vatican. It’s struck the Iranian holy city of Qom and contaminated a nursing home in Seattle. It is now wreaking unholy hell on Italy and starting to do the same on the US at-large. And around the world, it’s carrying not just sickness and death to loved ones but also anxiety and paralysis that is beginning to smother economies. God often uses the little things, the things that are not to affect the things that are. God uses the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are. Alas Babylon...you all are bearing witness to sovereign actions wholly out of your control. This is what judgment looks like in the modern world.

“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” ~ 1 Corinthians 26-31
