Since it is always difficult to have a conversation about God with people who don’t truly understand Him as He is described in the Bible, I felt compelled to describe Him from the pages of Scripture. If we do not know the God of the Bible, we do not know God at all and we are in danger of condemnation. Hold on to your hats, this is going to get heady. God is infinite as are His characteristics and attributes. Obviously I will not be able to make a complete list of His character but I will try to hit most of the primary ones in the next two posts.
God is Active in Real Space/Time as Creator.
Genesis 1:1 ~ In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God is Still Active in Real Space/Time as Sustainer

radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his
being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

Grieves...
John 3:16 ~ “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.
Romans 1:18 ~ “For the wrath of God
is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who
by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.”
Psalm 11:5 ~ “The LORD tests the
righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates

he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.
God Has Plans and Designs, Therefore He Thinks

us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and
blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for
adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance
with his pleasure and will…”
Trinity: God is One Being and He is Three Distinct Personalities

make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”
John 15:26 ~ ““When the
Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of
truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.
The Holy Spirit is a Person/Personality. He’s a He, Not an It.

worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me
Barnabas and Saul for the work to which “I” have called them.”

conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which
means “God with us”)

flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the
glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and
truth.

many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh,
have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the
antichrist.

For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did
God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus
Christ, overflow to the many!
Jesus was Pre-Existent before Being Born
1 John 4:1-2 ~ Dear friends, do not believe
every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you
can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus
Christ has come in the flesh is from God
