Staring as caught fish
they watch him slip along
the criss-crossed waves,
triumphant in his confidence
of faith,
mesmerized by the eyes of
Christ
until suddenly, as might be
expected,
he floundered
caught on the hook of his
own ego,
arms flapping like fins,
mouth gaping for help-
nothing more than a man
Overboard!
